Can you explain to us what service your company provides? Headliner (www.headliner.io) is an online platform connecting event planners and brides and grooms directly with live entertainment to perform at private events. We present over 4000 musicians, bands, DJ, magicians and circus performers on the platform. What makes your website different from online searches? We are not an agency. Technology is a big driver behind our platform, making the process for booking efficient and transparent. We put you directly in touch with artists and bands, so you can ask all the questions you have about their performance before you decide to book them. Looking for more suggestions, our system enable relevant artists to quote directly to your enquiry too. Our team is made up of music industry professionals that have over 20 years of industry experience and are on hand 24/7 to find you the perfect artist. Lastly, our industry connections has meant that we’ve partnered with the biggest agent and management companies in the world. This means we can truly secure any artist, anywhere including some of the biggest names in the business. How many bands do you have on your website and how do you choose them? We have over 4000 registered artists, but only a handful appear in our live search. Each artist is carefully vetted by our artist community team to ensure that we only represent the most professional and skilful musicians and DJs. What do you recommend for people who have a really particular taste in music? Our bookings manager, Rebecca has worked on both sides of the industry as an artist and agent. She has phenomenal experience in artist curation. If you are looking for something very specific, we are more than happy to curate this experience for you, even if it means building the band from scratch which we have done in the past. What happens if the band can't play on the day for example because the musician is ill? The beauty of having such a large and vetted platform is that we can easily find the perfect replacement artist at very short notice. We recently found a replacement pianist for a wedding in Oxfordshire at 2 hours notice after the bride and groom had been cancelled on via an agency site. How far in advance do band book out and you recommend contacting you? Some of our most popular artists are now taking bookings for 2019, so if you are looking to book a specific artist we recommend enquiring early. For most artists 6-9 months notice is ample. Headliner enables you to view an artist’s availability via their profile. Why do you recommend hiring a band rather than a DJ? DJs are amazing, but nothing quite beats the live experience of a full band. That full sound and dynamism can’t be beaten and is guaranteed to get everyone up and dancing. Other than venues and food, I would say live entertainment ranks at the very top of everyone’s most memorable element of a wedding or event. Do you hire DJs alongside hiring a band? Yes. We have a plethora of DJs on the platform, from Ibiza club DJs to vintage and vinyl DJs. Is there anything else you think brides and grooms should be aware of or look out for when booking a band? Make sure you are aware of any venue restrictions, like sound limiters that may prevent you from booking the band of your dreams. Make sure the band you are booking is communicative and professional. Many agencies create “franchise” bands, where you don’t always see what you get in terms of the performers. Always check that what you see if what you get.
